In 2008, leaders of missions organizations around the world gathered at an event called “Call 2 All”. One of the leading topics of conversation was the need for an increased focus on prayer in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. The consensus was that God is calling missions organizations to focus on prayer in a greater way. The Lord told one of the leaders, Mark Anderson of YWAM, “My house is a house of prayer, if you are not building a house of prayer, you are not building My house.” Prayer goes hand in hand with mission work—the two cannot be separated. Because of God’s revelation of this truth, No Boundaries International has decided to add an important and highly needed component into our lifeblood: No Boundaries International House of Prayer (NBIHOP).
NBIHOP is a starting point for us as a small missions organization to be faithful to what God is calling us to do: Matt 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” We, along with other missions organizations around the world, are taking a second look at how we go about this work. What does it mean to make a disciple, how do we actually go about doing it?
Jesus gives us the key in John 5:19,20
“…the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.” (John 5:19)
-To be a disciple is to walk like Jesus walked, totally dependent on the Father firstly and secondly totally full of the knowledge of Gods affections towards us, creating confidence and boldness in our hearts.
“For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does;” (John 5:20)
-To be a disciple is to be fully yielded to the Father, and to be full of the knowledge of His love and delight in us.
We are given the task to make disciples of the nations. In light of John 5:20,21, we find we need to do more than just bring the gospel message–we need to make them worshippers, ‘laid down lovers’, who are full of the knowledge of God’s love for them.
NBIHOP starts with us, the messengers, applying a portion of our time, strength, and resources into this key given in John 5: 19,20. If we are going to make disciples of the nations we need to first be grounded in intimacy with our Heavenly Father, His will and His love for us. NBIHOP is a place to do that, becoming a disciple in the way Jesus prescribed is only achieved in spending time with Him.
We are organizing ourselves to focus on what He says is important–His grace, reordering our steps because of His desire for us to fulfill His will for our lives individually and to empower and prepare us to touch the nations.
NBIHOP will be having intermittent worship-prayer times which are listed on our online calendar (click here to view our calendar!). All are welcome to come!
